Seize the Day, which is exactly what our
agency believes is the best approach with treatment foster care. How do our foster families
Seize the Day?
- By providing
loving structured homes for emotionally distressed children
- By providing
the care and routines necessary for them to feel safe and secure
- By taking
each moment in a child’s life as a ‘teachable
moment’: a chance for them to learn something about trusting
relationships
- By seeing
that children’s behaviour is a window through which to see
and understand their underlying feelings
- By providing
a home free of violence, abuse and chaos
- By showing
emotionally wounded children ways to heal
- By teaching
these children how to have fun, how to laugh, how to be children!
 Carpe Diem provides
therapeutic foster homes to over 150
children in Ontario. Private families have
opened their doors to
children in need, in locations such as Barrie,
Collingwood, Pickering,
Oshawa, Brampton, Mississauga,
Burlington, Hamilton, Brantford,
Cambridge,
and the Minto Clifford region. We are where you are!

On the passing of our Founding Director and Friend we are pleased to announce that Shari Durkin has been appointed Director of Carpe Diem Treatment Foster Homes. Shari will follow in her father’s footsteps realizing his vision in seizing the day. She comes to us with significant experience with Carpe Diem such as:
- Carpe Diem Foster Parent
- Emergency on Call / Drive / Relief Coordinator
- Member of the Carpe Diem Leadership Team
- Participated in Regular Directors Planning Meetings
- Executive Director of Branching Out Therapeutic Services
- Excellent collaborative relationship with Jim
We look forward to having Shari lead our Carpe Diem Family into the next growth filled phase.
